How to descale your steam oven, kettle or steam appliance
Limescale reduces steam power and shortens the life of the heating element.
- Steam oven or combi steam oven: start the appliance's descaling programme. The display tells you how much descaler and water to put in the water tank.
- Kettle: fill with descaler and water in the ratio stated on the packaging, leave to work as directed, pour away, then boil fresh water twice and pour it away.
- Other steam appliances: follow the descaling programme or the appliance's manual.
- Rinse with fresh water until no smell or taste remains.
Caffinity tip: Do not descale while hot: let the appliance cool first, unless the programme heats up by itself.
