How to descale your espresso machine
Descale as soon as your machine asks for it; with average use, that is about every 3 months.
- Remove the water filter from the water tank and empty the drip tray.
- Dissolve the powder in warm water. How many sachets and how much water is stated on the packaging. Pour the solution into the water tank.
- Place a large container under the group head and under the steam or hot water wand.
- Start your machine's descale mode. On many Sage machines, you do this by holding down a combination of buttons (see your manual).
- Let the solution run through the group head and the wand according to the programme.
- Rinse the water tank and run at least one full tank of fresh water through the group head and wand.
Caffinity tip: Does your machine have no descale mode? Then run the solution through the group head and wand in portions, leave it to work for 15 minutes and rinse with two full tanks of fresh water.
